CHRISTINA JOHNSON [#114232], 60, of Novato was suspended for one year, stayed, placed on two years of probation with an actual 30-day suspension and she was ordered to take the MPRE within one year. The order took effect Feb. 4, 2012.Johnson was terminated from the State Bar Alternative Discipline Program for lawyers with substance abuse or mental health issues. She had withdrawn from the Lawyer Assistance Program because she could not afford to participate and she did not provide a mental health certificate.Johnson stipulated to five counts of misconduct in a medical malpractice matter — she failed to perform legal services competently, keep her client informed of developments in her case, release client files or take steps to avoid prejudice to her client and she disobeyed court orders. She had missed court hearings, failed to submit a settlement conference statement or correct defects in her pleadings and didn’t notify her client about three depositions.She had no prior discipline record in 20-plus years of practice.
