December 22, 2010

FRANK EDWARD MAYO [#42972], 68, of Los Altos was suspended for two years, stayed, placed on three years of probation and was ordered to take the MPRE within one year. The order took effect Dec. 22, 2010.

Mayo successfully completed the Alternative Discipline Program for lawyers with substance abuse or mental health issues after he was convicted of four counts of misdemeanor tax evasion for failing to file state income tax returns for four years. He stipulated that he failed to support the laws of California.

In a second matter, he did not perform legal services competently or respond to client reasonable status inquiries.

Mayo was privately reproved in 2005. In mitigation, he cooperated with the bar’s investigation and performed service to the legal community.
