Peter Miles Hoffman [#66205], 67, of Los Angeles, was suspended July 23, 2017, for six months and faces a one-year suspension if he does not comply with the conditions of his probation. He was ordered to take and pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination and attend State Bar Ethics School. He stipulated that he held himself out as entitled to practice law when he was on interim suspension following a conviction. He communicated with opposing counsel and submitted pleadings as attorney for his client, an act of moral turpitude. He failed to notify all clients and co-counsel in writing, via certified mail, of his suspension. He falsely stated in writing that he had so notified clients and co-counsel of his suspension. He committed multiple acts of wrongdoing and had a prior record of discipline. Hoffman could face disbarment for his criminal conviction for conspiracy to commit mail or wire fraud and aiding or abetting wire fraud.
